3 Smart Tips For Brake  Replacement

1. Listen for the Squeal

You’ve heard it before a high-pitched squealing sound as a car, bus or truck comes to a halt in front of you Factory pads almost all have small metal tabs attached to them, nestled against the side of the pad. As the material on the pad wears down, those metal tabs are eventually exposed and stick up over the top of the pad.The next time you use your brakes, the metal tab makes contact with the rotor not strongly enough to cause damage, but with a level of pressure that generates a mechanical squeal. This sound is actually designed to pierce through traffic noise and be audible within the cabin of your car. It’s is one of the most obvious clues that it’s time to think about brake replacement, and if you hear it on your car, make an appointment to get your pads checked.

2. Vibration

Bad brake don’t always make noise when they need to be changed. Sometimes the brakes can wear unevenly, or become damaged during braking so that chunks of the pad break off or material is deposited onto the disc. When this happens, it can create a vibration under braking that occurs because the pad is unable to evenly distribute pressure across its entire surface. Any type of brake vibration is a sign something is wrong with your vehicle, and should investigate it as soon as possible.

3. Be Alert

The best laid plans can sometimes go awry, which means you should be aware of any unusual behavior from your brake. If you feel vibrations, hear weird noises or experience a lack of stopping power while braking, it could be a sign that you need to have your brakes replaced  even if there’s no other warning from your vehicle. Anything out of the ordinary is cause for concern when it comes to how your brakes feel out on the road.
