© Monroe’s Service 2014 Guaranteed fast service no matter how long it takes !! Car Care Tips With the warmer months ahead, this is a great time to take a look at your car and see if it needs any TLC. The winter months are hard on your vehicle, and it certainly suffered through a lot of ice, salt and slush this year. In addition to washing and spring-cleaning your car, make sure you run through this spring auto maintenance checklist to ensure your automobile is running right. 1 Check all fluids.                                                                                                                                                                        Change your oil according to manufacturers’ specifications. And check windshield washer, anti-freeze, oil, power steering & transmission fluids. 2. Check the brakes.                                                                                                                                                               This is something you don’t want to skip. Your anti-lock brake system has been working overtime with all the snow and ice this year. If you notice any squeaking or grinding noises as you brake, if it becomes harder to brake (you have to push the pedal down more), or your car pulls to one side or the other while braking, you need to bring your car in for a l brake check . 3. Check the tires.                                                                                                                                                        Check Tire Tread with a Penny, They tend to have to work harder in wintery conditions where there is more braking. Make sure the tire tread isn’t worn down too far by doing the Abe Lincoln penny test. Put a penny with Abe’s head facing down into the groove of your tires. If his head is not covered at all by your tire, then your tread is worn down too low and you need to get new tires. And check the air pressure for proper inflation. 4. Check the Battery                                                                                                                                                        The cold weather is hard on your starter and alternator. This requires your battery to pick up the slack and work harder in the winter too, so it’s important to test it now that we’re coming into spring. We’re happy to test it for you 5. Check the windshield wipers.                                                                                                                            People tend to not think about this maintenance necessity until it’s actually raining and they can’t see. Sound familiar? Do yourself a favor and replace bad windshield wipers so you don’t get caught in a spring shower unprepared. Windshield wipers usually need replacing every six months. 6. Check the air conditioning.                                                                                                                                          You’re going to want that working soon! Turn it on full blast and make sure that it gets cold relatively quickly. What people don’t realize is that your car’s A/C isn’t just for your comfort. It also helps cool down your engine in the summer months, so it’s important for it to be in good working order.
